Indigenous Fair Trade + Organic Reveals Bold New Looks for 2012.
SANTA ROSA, CA. - Indigenous’ bold new "worldly, smart and versatile" styling for 2012 is made all the more exciting by an equally compelling updating of its brand image. A new logo, new retail displays and a new website communicate the brand’s unwavering commitment to eco-chic fashion that honors the people who make it, the people who wear it and the natural environment.
"The elements of the new brand image transcend visual design. They are a way of telling the story of fair trade and organic fashion, and inviting our customers and our retail partners to get involved", says Matt Reynolds, Co-founder and President.
The Indigenous brand will now proudly display its unique Artisan Made-Fair Trade + Organic stamp, along with signatures of artisans who are hand-making the garments and informational icons celebrating Indigenous eco-friendly, socially responsible business practices. An updated logo and clean, earthy color palette will better communicate the worldy, smart, versatile and timeless design of Indigenous fashion.
"In less than a decade, Indigenous has grown to be the premium value leader in eco-chic fashion. Along with growth in sales, we have grown our range, refined our styling and expanded our range of boutique partners. It was time for our identity to catch up with where we are today", says Scott Leonard, Indigenous Co-founder and CEO.
The mindful consumer can expect many bold new styles from Indigenous in 2012, along with trusted and timeless classics and luxe staples. All will be wrapped in a brilliant new brand package, celebrating the value of fair trade + organic fashion.

Eco-fashion Leader Indigenous Invites Mindful Purchasing through new Garment Origin Trace Tool.
SANTA ROSA, CA (December 6, 2011) – While some fashion brands hide what goes on in their production process, Indigenous boldly invites customers to openly experience theirs.
Indigenous’ new Trace Tool uses mobile-enabled web technology to let shoppers see where garments originate and how fibers were raised; to meet the artisans who hand-make them and to learn about Indigenous’ positive social impact. Indigenous will begin shipping its 2012 line with a QR code on every hang tag that connects to the garment origin trace tool via any smart phone.
"The Trace Tool is one more way that Indigenous is raising consumer awareness of the vital importance of fair trade and organic fashion to artisans in the developing world, and to the environment. It is part of our commitment to create fashion that honors the people who wear it, and the people who produce it", says Scott Leonard, Indigenous Co-founder and CEO.
The Trace Tool offers a brand video, artisan profiles, an origins map and social impact data, including results of artisan workforce surveys conducted in partnership with Labor Link/Good World Solutions.
"We are hoping that by sharing the beauty of what goes in to our fashion as well as the beauty of our eco-chic styling, we will encourage even more fashionistas to become passionistas about buying only fashion that is good for people and planet", says Matt Reynolds, Indigenous Co-founder and President.
Once the Trace Tool debuts on the new Indigenous 2012 line release, Indigenous hopes to share the Trace Tool via license agreement with other socially conscious brands through a development and customization partnership with its agency partner, Worldways Strategy + Creative.
This is another innovations from a pioneer in the fair trade and organic fashion space. Indigenous shows once again that truly great fashion is fashion worth buying, worth wearing and worth talking about.

Ode to the Indigenous Woman
There are really two types of Indigenous women that we celebrate. We celebrate them for their hard work, for their optimism, for their passion for their families and their communities and for their dedication to authentic beauty. One is the artisan living in the highlands of Peru who hand crafts many of the styles from INDIGENOUS DESIGNS. She is helping to preserve a centuries-old cultural tradition, ensuring that her family escapes the poverty that surrounds them and contributing to the overall social and economic growth of her community by working, and often by creating jobs. It is her spirit that is woven into every INDIGENOUS garment. The other is the woman who wears the Indigenous brand. More likely than not, she is a mother, engaged in work and community, socially conscious and lives a very full life. She appreciates that the INDIGENOUS brand is worldly, smart, versatile and can be dressed up or down to complement the many facets of her day. She also understands the connection between how what she buys affects people like the artisan in Peru. INDIGENOUS is a leader in fair trade and organic fashion. That means artisans are paid fairly, and their environment is protected. They have opportunity to grow an prosper. Every INDIGENOUS purchase can be made knowing that is good for people and planet. Two indigenous women, one making eco-chic fair trade and organic clothing, the other wearing it, is a powerful combination for a better world. Shouldn’t we all be INDIGENOUS women?
